Partnership Arts Festival Summer 2008

We are currently preparing for a summer arts festival to be held from 8-13 September.  The event aims to showcase creativity and bring together artwork from individuals and groups from across the Borders, particularly those who use support services.

The theme is 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Through the Looking Glass'.  The week will include drama, performances, a masked ball, an art exhibition, artists workshops and an Alice in Wonderland fair.

One of the highlights of the festival will be the tunnel project where community artists, Hetty Chapman and Wendy Ward from Think Make Grow will work with approximately five different groups to create a multi-sensory rabbit hole which will form the entrance to the fair.  They have been successful in attracting a £5,000 grant from Awards for All and £2,500 from the Scottish Borders Community Grants Scheme.

Get involved ...

Participation in the festival is open to everyone.  Projects may be created using any medium - film, visual art, writing, performance, scuplture, music, dance, poetry, photography etc.  Some of the events we are planning include:

Community evening workshops are currently being held from 7.00-8.00 every Thursday at Lanark Lodge.  We are creating life size puppets to be used as part of the 'Alice' drama performance during the festival.  The workshops are open to everyone over 16.  There will be a small charge of £3 to cover materials.
